Tree House

A while back, I got into a bird house building frenzy. I think I built 4 birdhouses, designed for several different species, and then placed them strategically throughout the yard. I patiently watched and waited. You can imagine my elation, as slowly but surely, little bird families took ownership. This one is in my front yard and has drawn the interest of both Chickadee's and Wren's.

I made use of Saran Wrap and dry brushing to add texture to the tree. I really like using the wrap; the results are always interesting and not completely controllable, which gives way to some fun and interesting surprises. I never noticed the green color in this bird house until today. Next year, this tree will have to be removed because of the Emerald Ash Borer, which is causing its slow, inevitable death. I am thankful that I took the time to memorialize it today. I will miss it.
